Captain young at a reality show? (Part 2)
If you have not read Part 1 read it Here!
I scheduled my phone call for a few days later. Unfortunately, I did not get to interview with Wes, but I got to know a producer named Madison. She asked me a lot of questions about my business and my personal life. I tried to show her exactly who I am and let my fun personality shine through. Plus, I told her that Wes is the king of manipulation, but I am the queen of manipulation, so he needs me to be part of this show. I was totally being super confident in myself. I told her that like Wes, when I do manipulate, it’s never for evil. It’s always for good. The one thing I have learned the most in business is to work together, not against each other. I am all about helping other businesses to grow. I try to find referrals for them. It’s just all about working together. My motto is that you only do business with people you know, like, and trust.
When the interview was over, she started to explain when the next season will be filmed. She gave the dates and everything. She asked if I would be able to make those dates if I was casted. In the back of my mind, I was thinking that I totally nailed the interview they are going to cast me. Holy S**T!!! I was waiting for her to congratulate me and offer me a spot on the season, but that’s not exactly how it went. She just thanked me for my time and told me that she had many other calls to make. She told me I would know after the 4th of July weekend if I made the cut, and if I do not hear from them, then I would not be offered a spot. I let my confidence shine through one last time, and I told her that I look forward to hearing good news from her after the holiday weekend.
"This is the true story...of seven strangers... picked to live in a house... (work together) and have their lives taped...to find out what happens..."

After the interview, I was confident that I did a great job. I knew they had to cast me. My business model is great, and I know I could use their help to teach me how to fundraise. As a bonus, I knew I would be good on TV. Over the 4th of July weekend I did a few tours, and I enjoyed the weekend with my family at our lake house. I got a phone call Sunday July 3rd from Kansas City. I couldn’t believe my eyes. It wasn’t even after the holiday weekend! I answered in a cool voice trying to hide my excitement. Cassie, another producer, was on the other end of the phone. Before I could catch my breath, Cassie was offering me a spot on Season 5 of The Blox!!! She started telling me all the details and what I needed to do before the show. I was relieved when she said she was going to email me everything because I was still in shock and having a hard time listening to her.
I got off the phone and went back to the house where my family was. Until this moment, they had no idea I even applied to be on a reality show. I told them I just got a phone call and was casted to an entrepreneur show filming in August. They were stunned. I filled them in on everything I was doing behind the scenes to get on the show. I promised them I won’t embarrass them or do anything stupid. However, if you want airtime you have to give them a character, and I am definitely going to do that.
I am now one week away from the show. I am excited, I am nervous of the unknown, and I am hoping that I will be as good as I think I can be. I am also smart when it comes to games. I am 1 of 40 entrepreneurs on this show out of 5,000 that applied to be on this season. Of the 40 businesses on the show, some have two people going from the business. I am going by myself. The producers said that there are close to 100 people on this show. I am just 1 out of 100, so I must really work hard to figure out how I can stand out.
The Blox
So where can you watch this show? It’s not on a live network yet, but as this show grows and Wes continues to work as hard as he does, I believe it will be on a network soon. As of now, there are two seasons you can watch on the The Blox app. Just search THE BLOX, and it’s free to download. Of course I have watched both seasons already to help give myself a leg up. I decided I was going to hit up the companies from the past seasons and see if they would be willing to talk to me and give me advice. They have already been on the show, and they know what really happens. The companies I spoke to were able to give me great advice. There was one that I really enjoyed talking to, so much that we are going to meet after my season and work together. That could be another blog in the future. The good thing is no one on my season knows I am doing this because they haven’t found my blog yet. When they read this, they will realize that I had a genius idea. I feel like I am totally ready for this experience.
This will not be an easy journey. It will be hard mentally. There will be long days of filming and absorbing all the content they will be giving us. As I watched the seasons so far, I love the fact that no one is fighting or bad mouthing any businesses. They just work hard and help each other out. Obviously there is some competition back and forth, but it was never in a mean way. What I have learned so far is that the casts helped each other out. It felt like they really had a bond that would last past the show. So, to my future castmates: I am looking forward to meeting you, learning from you, and hearing about all the cool businesses that are out there. I am excited to hear how you started your journey. I am sure I am going to learn from these businesses, I want those businesses to know I will help them anyway I can!
This has been my longest blog so far, but I felt like you needed the whole story on how I found this show. I am honored that the producer saw something in me and decided to give me this chance to learn. I am excited to grow what I already have and keep moving forward. Watch out, people! Captain Young Travels is only scratching the surface. We will conquer the waters across the nation. You will see how this journey on The Blox will help me get on the map nationally. I cannot wait to see what we will be doing this time next year. I also can’t wait to let people know when they will be able to watch my season. Trust me when I say this: follow my journey. It’s something you won’t want to miss.
